The Turn of the Year
The Turn of the Year
Grove, Frederick Philip. Toronto: The Macmillan Company of Canada, 1939.
8vo., 237 pp. Frontis plus seven full-page illustrations by C. M. Manly. Decorated title page and first letter of each chapter. Bound in light brown cloth decorated and lettered in black front and spine. Pale brown dust jacket decorated in brown and blue-green upper panel, lettered in darker brown front and spine.
Fox spots to page edges and, less so, to front and back endpapers. Two previous owners signatures to front free endpaper, the earlier dated Christmas 1933. Dust jacket has small piece missing from head of spine and another from top edge of upper panel. Creases due to closed tear on top edge of lower panel. Otherwise a lovely copy of an uncommon title, especially so in its original jacket.
A "panorama of the seasons" in which the author describes nature and life in his adopted land, the Canadian prairie west.
